  • Several types of cancer affect the liver cells, with the most common being, hepatocellular carcinoma. Like most cancers, the signs and symptoms are not noticeable in its early stages. However, if signs do appear, they may present as:

    • Upper abdominal pain, mostly on the right side
    • Yellow discoloration of the skin and the whites of the eyes (jaundice)
    • White, chalk-like stools
    • Sudden weight loss without trying
    • Loss of appetite, nausea and vomiting
