Endoscopy and other non-surgical technologies are used in interventional pulmonology to diagnose and treat disorders affecting the lungs and chest. The pulmonologists (lung specialists) who perform these treatments are specialists in interventional treatments. Interventional pulmonology operations are commonly carried out by cardiothoracic and other surgeons.
