About Dr. Viral Mehta
Dr. Viral Mehta has been practising neurosurgery in Vadodara since 2001, making him one of the most experienced Sr. Neurosurgeons, the city has. Over a career spanning more than 25 years, he has built particular depth in brain tumour surgery, minimally invasive spine surgery, and functional neurosurgery.
He completed his MBBS and MS (General Surgery) from Baroda Medical College, Vadodara, and his MCh in Neurosurgery from Sir JJ Group of Hospitals and Grant Medical College, Mumbai. The same year, he received a fellowship in microneurosurgery from Fujita Health University (FHU), Nagoya, Japan, under Prof. Kanno and Prof. Sanno, two of the most respected names in the field.
Very few neurosurgeons in India have had that kind of hands-on microneurosurgical training in Japan. It is a skill set that directly applies to tumours located near critical brain structures, cases that other surgeons might decline.
In 2006, Dr. Mehta joined the Vadodara Institute of Neurological Sciences (VINS) as Director and Consultant. He has performed over 100 neuronavigation-guided stereotactic biopsies and has extensive experience managing acute neurosurgical emergencies.

Why Consult Dr. Viral Mehta
Twenty-five years in neurosurgery, in one city, builds a very specific kind of clinical instinct. Dr. Mehta has operated on patients with everything from acute head trauma to rare skull base tumours and refractory epilepsy. His training is backed by tens of thousands of hours of actual surgical experience.
His microneurosurgery fellowship in Japan gave him exposure to techniques for handling tumours near critical brain structures that require extreme surgical precision. That skill set is relevant for patients with brain tumours in locations that other surgeons might consider inoperable.
For patients in Vadodara facing a neurosurgical diagnosis, access to a surgeon of his background at Zydus Hospital means serious cases can be managed locally, without the stress of travelling to another city.
