 Understanding Movement Disorders

Movement disorders are neurological conditions where the brain's control over voluntary and automatic body movements breaks down. Parkinson's disease is the most recognised: patients experience slowness, muscle stiffness, and tremor.

The group is broader; it also includes conditions where the body moves involuntarily (tremor, chorea, myoclonus, tics), where posture becomes abnormal (dystonia), or where walking and balance are affected (ataxia).

These conditions are often progressive and can be isolating for patients who feel unheard or misclassified. A trained specialist who can give a precise diagnosis and design a treatment plan built around that specific condition makes a real difference to quality of life.

Why Consult Dr. Suvorit S Bhowmick

If you or a family member is living with Parkinson's disease, a tremor disorder, dystonia, or an unexplained movement problem, a general neurology opinion is a starting point, but rarely the endpoint. Movement disorders are a subspecialty that rewards focused expertise.

Dr. Bhowmick's training in Toronto and his years running a dedicated Movement Disorders Clinic mean his patient population is precisely those with the most complex presentations. He works at the intersection of diagnosis, medical management, and advanced procedural therapies, giving patients options at every stage of their condition.
