Dr. Yatin Desai

Professional Bio:

• Dr. Yatin Desai is a senior Orthopedic & Joint Replacement surgeon. He is considered as one of the best Orthopedic doctors in the state. With more than 4 decades of experience, his specialties include hip & joint replacement, minimally invasive osteosynthesis, acetabular fractures and complex trauma, and correcting limb deformities. He has performed more than 35,000 surgeries so far including rare surgeries such as Ilizarov 22 cm lengthening, excising a 9.5 cm cyst around the popliteal nerve, a bilateral total hip replacement in a single seating, and more. He participated in the inaugural Arthroscopic Surgery Workshop in Gujarat in 1986 and took part in discussions at the Asia Pacific Forum regarding anterior versus posterior techniques for total hip replacement. Additionally, he served as an instructor for various hands-on courses in Orthopedics.

• He worked as an Honorary Assistant Professor, Associate Professor, Professor and Head of the Department at K. M School of Post-Graduation Medicine & Reserach and V. S Hospital, Ahemdabad. 
• He worked with the Indian Medical Association as an accredited PG inspector to assess and approve PG positions in medical colleges.

Contributions:

• He has contributed to the creation and modification of Indian implant designs.
• He is the first instructor at Zydus Ahmedabad to initiate DNB orthopedics training
• He previously served as the President of the Charotar Patel Samaj, an organization that carries out various social initiatives aimed at helping underprivileged individuals.

Awards:

• His orthopedic post-graduate students got gold medals in MS orthopedic exam for consecutive 5 years.
• He has trained more than 100 orthopedic surgeons, and his extensive leadership abilities have been acknowledged by The Gujarat Orthopedic Association.
