Dr. Akanksha Garg

Professional Bio:

• Dr. Akanksha Garg is an esteemed Hemato-Oncologist and Bone Marrow Transplant physician with over a decade of experience in treating both adult and pediatric blood diseases, including lymph node and blood cancer. She specializes in hemoglobinopathies such as thalassemia and sickle cell disease, as well as coagulation disorders like hemophilia. Dr. Garg has performed approximately 100 stem cell transplants at GCRI Ahmedabad and has obtained valuable expertise at prestigious institutions such as GCRI Ahmedabad and AIIMS Jodhpur. She also served as an observer at the Institute Gustave Roussy in France and the Universitatsklinikum in Frankfurt, Germany. Her clinical expertise includes nutritional anemias, autoimmune hemolytic anemia, hemoglobinopathies, platelet disorders like ITP, aplastic anemia, congenital bone marrow failure disorders including Fanconi anemia, myeloproliferative disorders like CML, myelofibrosis, and myelodysplastic syndromes. Dr. Garg is passionate about research and has been a faculty member at various CMEs and conferences.

• She won 2nd prize- Oral presentation at Myeloma State of the Art meet at PGI Chandigarh, India, September 2016 on the topic ‘Isolated gastrointestinal graft versus host disease in multiple myeloma post autologous stem cell transplantation’.
• She won 2nd prize for Myeloma Quiz at Myeloma State of the Art meet at PGI Chandigarh, India, September 2016. She stood second amongst 60 competing teams from various institutions from India consisting of DM/DNB Medical oncology and DM/DNB Clinical hematology.
• 2nd prize- Junior Investigator Award at Thane Hematology Group meeting, Thane, India, October 2017, Granulocyte transfusions in severe neutropenic sepsis and their role in combating multi- drug resistant organisms (MDROs)’.
• 1st prize for Central India Institute of Hematology Oncology All India DM/DNB Hematology Quiz, Nagpur, India, June 2018. She stood first amongst 10 competing teams from AIIMS, Delhi; PGI, Chandigarh; KEM, Mumbai, SGRH, Delhi; NRS Medical college, Kolkata.
